Having taken last weekend off and recharged my tipping batteries I have returned fresh and full of beans! I see the hype around a certain Mr G Bale hasn't quite died yet, with all the good players in both sides for the North London derby, apparently Wenger will be positively shitting it at the thought of the Welsh boy running quite fast. From what I've seen if you're stupid enough (looking at the fat Spanish waiter here) to leave a slower full back on his own to deal with him then he'll knock it round and chase it, much like when you were 11. I'm sure Wenger is clever enough to combat this 'threat'. I also had the misfortune to watch England's C team get taught a lesson by France's B team on Wednesday. This really shouldn't be a suprise as our A team lack technique and invention, why the C team would be different is beyond me. Apparently Harry Redknapp is the answer, to which I would only respond, what the fuck was the question? Who has the droopiest face in the Premier League? Who is the most tactically naive manager currently managing?
Arsenal v Tottenham, Saturday 1245
Talking of the Premier Leagues sloppiest cheeked man, his team make the short trip to The Emirates this week for the North London derby. Here's some stats for you...the Spuds haven't beaten one of the Sky 4 away in their last 68 games and haven't won at Arsenal since 1993. Arsenal are currently playing pretty well and have added some grit to their ever-present tippy tappy tartiness. Redknapp also has a lengthy injury list to contend with, but he has bought crocks and extra players in positions he didn't need them so he'll get fuck all sympathy from me. I'm confident Arsenal can turn over a makeshift Spuds team so I'll even give them a slight handicap to overcome. Get on a -0.75 hcap at Ladbrokes and thank me later.
Birmingham v Chelsea, Saturday 1500
The shock of the season took place at Stamford Bridge last Sunday with Sunderland rocking up and turning the champions over. I mean, Christ, even Nedum Onuoha made mugs of Chelsea's backup defence. I had warned pre-season that I thought Chelsea's backup was amongst the worst in the top half and it looked spot on last weekend. For all the talk of the top, top youngsters coming through, Ancelotti still didn't play Bruma at centre half. He rather chose to play a shit right back there (Ferreira). The injuries continue this week and it will be interesting to see if Bruma gets a chance, I think he's crap so I wouldn't expect it mind you. Birmingham haven't been at all impressive or entertaining, but they are still hard to beat. I really fancy Brum to get a draw in this one and prolong Chelsea's misery. Best price is again at Laddies at 3.75.
Blackpool v Wolves, Saturday 1500
Two of the Premier Leagues lesser lights take on each other at Bloomfield Road on Saturday. Wolves are beginning to show a bit more than earlier on in the season, but are still woefully inept up front. I like both Kevin Doyle and Steven Fletcher, but they've been toilet so far. I think both work better with a poacher and Wolves do not own one of those. Blackpool will be without their best player, Charlie Adam, this weekend and that will really hurt them. If Wolves had more firepower I'd be all over them as Blackpool aren't great at home either, but they aren't so I'm not! Coral have Wolves at 2.1 Draw No Bet and I'll take the safety net of that.
Bolton v Newcastle, Saturday 1500
This match has 2 of the suprise packages so far this season meeting at the world renowned Reebok Stadium. I jest, it's a soulless dump really. Anyway, Newcastle have been my Wigan this season, in as much as I just can't predict their match results. I've been a Bolton backer quite often, but if the Newcastle team that dicked Villa and Arsenal turn up then it's curtains for Bolton. I think this match might have some goals. Don't know why really, just got a feeling it will! Bodog go 1.95 on over 2.5 goals and I fancy that!
Man Utd v Wigan, Saturday 1500
Traditionally Wigan have turned up for this fixture and rolled over. There has been a truly shocking lack of effort in some of the 'matches' between these 2. Dave Whelan seems to want favours from Utd and therefore gives them the 3 points every season. This really gets my goat in terms of fair play and all that, but it makes betting a doddle usually. I say usually as this season Utd have not been covering handicaps at all. With Wayne Rooney seemingly taking an indefinite amount of time to recover from having a threesome with ladies of the night, and Berba reverting to type and being a lazy, sulky, Kevin the teenager style twat, Utd are short of goals. The supporting cast have weighed in on occasion, but noone is sticking or providing any regularity. I think it could again take Utd a while to get into gear so I'll take a stab at Draw/Utd in the HT/FT market. Odds of 4.5 are widely available if you fancy following.
West Brom v Stoke, Saturday 1500
I think this should be my tip of the weekend. Stoke have been grinding out results at home this season, but have been shown up with their brand of non-football away. West Brom are set up with a solid back 4 then players willing to attack at pace given the opportunity. I have been hugely impressed with Odemwingie so far and I gather he should return for this match. Stoke's habit of fielding 4 hulking behemoth centre backs across the backline this season has seen them aerially dominate, but god they're slow. WBA should hopefully rip them apart. Victor Chandler are going 2.25 on the home win and that's my tip of the weekend.
Liverpool v West Ham, Saturday 1730
This has all the ingredients to be one of the worst matches in living memory. Pool are definitely without captain fantastic and possibly Torres. West Ham are utter shit. Neither team will want to lose this one, West Ham are desperate for points and Liverpool wont want the embarrassment and lack goals. It should be a similar team for the hosts to the one that has bored me to tears in the Europa Cup so far this season. West Ham are having trouble scoring goals from any source and other than 'Scotty' Parker they look like they don't care either. I think Betfair prices of 1.95 are very generous on under 2.5 goals from these two.
Blackburn v Aston Villa, Sunday 1330
In what promises to be another thrilling encounter, hoofball merchants Aston Villa meet dirty hoofball merchants Blackburn. If you're trying to catch up on sleep then I guarantee this match should help you with that. The most thoroughly unlikeable tosser in Premier League management Big Fat Sam Allardyce is the master of winning these tight contests, oftne by just generally being happy to completely forgo entertainment for a scrappy goal and spoiling play. Villa aren't exactly enterprising, they are simply more likely to punt it down a wing for their speedy wide players to chase. All this should add up to a low-scoring match with little for the neutral to admire. And probably some fantastic pre and post match comments about how brilliant he is and how awful foreign managers are from the Fat One. God knows what to bet on in this, unders have not been kind to me this season and are short prices for this. I'm going to go for Gael Givet to get booked at 2.25 at Skybet, Ashley Young and Marc Albrighton are both quick enough to cause him some problems that a swift kick might stop.
Fulham v Man City, Sunday 1600
This one has a grudge match feel to it with Mark Hughes possibly being able to condemn his successor at City to the sack with a win. I don't agree that Mancini should be sacked if he fails to win this, but certain elements of the media are convinced that is the case. Saying that he has failed to find anyone to relieve the goalscoring burden from Carlos Tevez and isn't picking Adam Johnson or playing David Silva in his natural position, which would surely help create chances. Yaya Toure looked a good signing to me, but it looks like the bulk of his hefty wage has gone on pies so far, the great fat git. Hughes has always seemed a prickly sort to me and will definitely be out for some revenge. He should have his team fired up and aiming for an all too rare win. Having Moussa Dembele back also means Hughes has a striker to pick and Dempsey to support him. I like City a lot, and think Mancini should be given more time, but I fancy a Fulham win. Betfair still have them at 3.4, but that price is being cut all the time so get on quick!
Sunderland v Everton, Monday 2000
Having sprung the shock result of the season so far at Stamford Bridge last Sunday maybe Bruce's team can start to justify the considerable outlay. I've never understood why he is so immune from criticism in the press. He's spent a fortune at Sunderland and only Bent and Gyan have worked out so far. He also left some of his earlier clubs as soon as a better offer came in and should at least be viewed as a money grabber like Sven for that. I suspect it's because he's English that he gets away with it, but I've seen through him. He's an average manager who has set up a good scouting network, probably due to his strange close ties with Arsene Wenger. Everton had finally got into gear and were unbeaten in 7 before last weeks home defeat by Arsenal. They are another team painfully short of fit strikers and have struggled for goals for a lot of the season. Sunderland's defence is prone to being extremely generous though, so they should get some chances in this. I fancy both teams to score at 2.0 with William Hill.

A little bit of Monday punting...
This week we are treated to a full programme of matches in the Premier League during the week. In a move that is sure to annoy women everywhere that means that there will be football on during the soaps Tuesday and Wednesday! Looking back to the weekend I haven't had the best of luck again, and if this wretched run continues with these tips I will be taking the weekend off to recharge my batteries and have a little break. I wont be chasing my losses, and that's some free advice I'd offer you all! Just another quick note to say that I see renowned right back Gretar Steinsson of Bolton somehow managed to keep the best player in the world Gareth Bale quiet, whilst over in Sapin some wee fella called Messi scored again. This kid might be worth keeping an eye on? One day he could be as good as Wales finest!
Stoke City v Birmingham City, Tuesday 1945
The weeks action kicks off with what is sure to be about as entertaining as watching 'indie' music or Neighbours when Lynn is on. Stoke are almost unable to play football and for that reason alone credit must go to Tony Pulis for keeping them in the top league in the country without ever really attempting to do so. Birmingham, whilst far from Stoke's levels of piss poor, are in dire need of some goals. They don't possess any flair or a player to open a defence up with a splitting pass so need a striker on form to edge matches. They currently don't have this and that's why I'll be backing Stoke in this one. It'll no doubt be from a Rory Delap throw and a bullying header, but christ it's effective! Best price is 2.2 at Paddy Power.
Tottenham v Sunderland, Tuesday 2000
This one has the potential to be a thriller. Tottenham love a gung-ho approach at Shite Fart Lane, not because Sloppy Chops wants it that way, it's because he's assembled the worst collection of centre backs in the league. The utter clown. Sunderland are managing to stay away from the relegation places on the back of a good record at the Stadium Of Light and Darren Bent's ceaseless scoring. They are also pretty liable to concede at any point so goals should really be on the cards. I'm not excited about Spurs prices of 1.6, they're far too inconsistent for me to back them at that. What I do like is quotes of 3.3 at Skybet on Mr Darren Bent to score anytime. He is a regular scorer anyway against any and every defence and will surely have a point to prove after Droopy jowls binned him for those absolute world-beaters Jermaine 'a poor man's Andy Cole' Defoe and Peter 'Tall' Crouch.

This is when prices confuse me! Tottenham are inconsistent and Sunderland have players capable of giving most teams in the division a game. Villa are good at home, have a decent team and Blackpool are generally a championship team capable of raising their game occasionally. Yet, Villa are longer priced to win at home? I'm aware Blackpool have upset the odds this season, but I don't think Villa will be next. It'll probably be a fairly tight encounter as Villa aren't set up to give much away and don't have a prolific striker. I fancy Villa to win to nil at Paddy Power prices of 2.87.
Chelsea v Fulham, Wednesday 1945
Wednesday brings us the West London derby from Stamford Bridge. Having watched John Terry once again prove my assertion that against a striker with an ounce of pace or strength he is proven to be a Sunday league clogger I wouldn't be quick to back Chelsea. Mark Hughes team have been draw specialists so far, and are capable of continuing that run in this if the likes of Malouda and Anelka reproduce their Sunday performances. Clint Dempsey is doing an admirable job up top for the Cottagers, but Hughes must be praying for the return of Dembele and Zamora aometime soon to give them a real presence. If this was at Fulham I'd be laying Chelsea as their away form is not anyhting to write home about, however at the Bridge they are still nigh on unbeatable. I think Fulham will put up a decent defence, but will ultimately fail. I'll be having a poke at the Draw/Chelsea in the HT/FT market with 4.5 widely available.

The turning of the Emirates from a fortress to an away teams play area continued at the weekend with Newcastle joining WBA in coming away with all 3 points. Andy Carroll might have some of the worst hair in living memory and by all accounts be a complete pillock, but he's a handful. It's now 3 wins on the spin for the Geordie's and whilst Blackburn also won on Saturday I think Newcastle's run will continue. I think that absolute tosser in charge at Blackburn is on borrowed time and I'd like to think that if he loses that job he might get out of the Premier League and then I wont have to listen to his ridiculous self promotion for a while. Best price on the home win is 2.0 with a number of firms, I'll be on that.

However comma they are desperate for more than one point at the moment and their performance was once again less than encouraging. They have far too many players who seem happy to pick up their wages for no effort and it serves them right. The chairman is from Cardiff and he walks around giving it the cockernee geezer swagger. Offering Thierry Henry £100k a week in one breath then criticising the Icelanders before him for giving Kieron Dyer £70k. He's just as big a fool and for that reason alone I'd not be unhappy to see them fall a division again. West Brom are becoming something of the toast of the month for Roberto Di Matteo's attempts to play football in front of a solid defence. I think there will be goals in this one, over 2.5 at prices of 2.0 with William Hill are my tip.

Wigan are in a bit of a bad spell at present whereas Pool are on the crest of a wave. 4 matches now they've won in a row and have climbed to within touching distance of the Champions League. Fernando Torres looked like the player everyone knows he can be when motivated on Sunday, and even perennial joke Lucas performed well. Wigan are another tip to go down for me, they aren't good enough in any area to stay up really, and don't look motivated to even put in the graft that Blackpool are to make up for those shortcomings. Bluesq have left Pool at 1.83 and I'd take that as they will be around 1.7 by kick-off.

It's 2 of my favourite teams going head to head in this one. I really like David Moyes Everton team for the way they've been built on a relative budget and are a real team of players fighting for each other. It's a managerial skill few seem to possess to engender such team spirit and Moyes can't be applauded enough. Bolton were widely hated under nobhead Fat Sam and Gary 'Boring' Megson. Owen Coyle has taken their resolute backline and midfield and tried to add some flair to it. This should be a lauded achievement and one that should look good on his CV when he inevitably looks to move to a bigger club. Saying all of this I'm really not sure how to call this one! I fancy Everton to score and when they do, it's often Tim Cahill. Skybet are a standout 2.87 on him to do so anytime and that's the one for me.

Mario Balotelli put in a great shift, scoring a brace, on Sunday afternoon, but then foolishly got himself sent off for aiming a kick at a WBA player. Man City have appealed this decision, presumably as they are worried Tevez wont be fit and therefore they will really struggle for goals. United scraped past a not very good Wolves side on Saturday afternoon and again didn't impress me. The shits are up to second and closing in on Chelsea though so it shows why Fergie has been so successful for so long. The win at West Brom will have bought Mancini some time, but if City lose this the growing clamour for his removal will no doubt increase. Sir Wrigley thrives on precisely this sort of opportunity to get a dig in at rival managers and I'd fully expect him to somehow ramp up the pressure in the next day or so. All this adds up to another City bottle job I think. However, whether that's in a loss or a draw I'm not sure! I'll take Betfair's offer of 2.0 on Utd in the Draw No Bet market.

A lot of Arsenal players looked jaded and in the absence if inspiration from Cesc Fabregas, devoid of ideas. Although he's only just come back, Fab id displaying all the signs that he is once again crocked. I would rest him and give Samir Nasri another run in his central role as he excelled there earlier in the season. Sadly, for Guneers fans, I don't see Wenger doing this. If he thinks Cesc is 90% he'll play. This will give Wolves a real belief after running Utd close twice recently that they can get a win at Molineux. Mick McCarthy has never sent a team out to attack in his life, and I don't see that changing, but they are resolute enough to nick a point. I'll take them in the Double Chance market with the draw at an appealing 2.25 with Stan James.

Playing away with them dastardly foreign types...
Having already completed my look at the Premier League fixtures for the weekend I am going to see if I can find a few more from the world outside of In-Ger-Land. With Sky constantly proclaiming it the bestest league in the whold world ever and ever infinite, and now a mister G. Bale's elevation to the level of Pele, Maradona and Di Stefano on the back of 2 good games in the last 5 I'm not sure why anyone would watch anything else. Possibly because it's all damn lies?
Spanish Liga Primera
Real Sociedad v Racing Santander, Saturday 1900
The first evening match on Saturday in Spain comes from Sociedad. Having taken an age to get going this season Sociedad now look like a team capable of getting some results. Santander aren't very good. This all points to a home win at a widely available 2.2.
Espanyol v Malaga, Saturday 2100
The late Saturday game from the land of the wonderful tortilla and chorizo is from Barcelona's other team, Espanyol. Now I foolishly backed Malaga at home last week, and the humping they got meant the sacking of their manager and today hiring Manuel Pellegrini. This is the man who led Madrid to their best points ever in their history and was still sacked, he'll have something to prove. Malaga are also far better away from home. Espanyol are no mugs, but nor are they world beaters. I'm going to have a dabble at the Draw No Bet market and odds of 3.0 are widely available.

Roma overcame Basle in Switzerland midweek 3-2 and granted Ranieri a stay of execution after a poor season so far. The last time Lazio won a Rome derby when top they went on to win the league and I think they have every chance of both those outcomes again. Italy has been regressing for a few years now and Lazio are solid with drops of talent, and that could really be enough to win the title. El Capitano Totti is suspended for Roma and not having their leader will damage their chances. I think Victor Chandler's standout 2.5 isd a price worth taking.

Good morning on this remember, remember the 5th of November morning. With the midweek 'Champions' League excitement out of the way it's time to once again train our eyes on domestic matters. Although before I move on can I just reiterate what a truly horrible, greasy, whining, cheating little dickhead Cristiano Ronaldo is. It really pains me to say this, but the Spuds have become the match I always watch on 'Champions' League nights. This is due mainly to the fact that Redknapp is absolutely incapable of setting up a defence and it makes for nearly guaranteed entertainment. Having seen 21 year old Gareth Bale making 33 year old Maicon wear a dress and cry on Tuesday night the nation's press are keen to now appoint him as up there with Leo Messi now that Wayne 'Wazza' Rooney has been exposed as a talentless uncouth moron. Obviously Bale is nothing of the sort, he has been brilliant in both games against Inter, but this has mainly been due to Benitez for some reason choosing to let a 33 year old right back who's best years have looked behind him have to deal with a pacey winger like Bale. In the other 2 of the last 4 games when up against world beaters Baines and Rafael he has barely made an impression as they are as quick as him. All this leads me to Gretar Steinsson. He will face the in-form Bale on Saturday and he bares more resemblance to Maicon in terms of pace so I think he could be in for a roasting. With VDV likely to be rested I think Bale will assume free-kick duties too. This makes William Hill quotes of 4.5 on Bale to score anytime look worth a poke to me.
Birmingham v West Ham, Saturday 1500
Looking at the stats for both teams this season it would appear they'd fall in a barrel of boobs and come out sucking their thumbs, to borrow from Ian Holloway. They are both absolutely hopeless in front of goal and it's no wonder when we look at their 'strikeforces'. West Ham have the impossibly useless Carlton Cole, Benni McCarthy doing a passable impression of Mr Blobby and Frederic Piquionne, who is more about hard graft than actually netting. Brum have messrs O'Connor, Jerome and new signing Zigic. Both managers seem to have recognised these failings and not conceding has been the name of the game this season for both. I think West Ham would settle for a draw away, and I don't think Brum have the inventiveness to unlock a 9 at the back formation so this looks a low scoring draw to me. Stan James go 3.4 on the draw and I'll be on that.

In another probably horrendous match we have Wigan travelling the short distance to Blackburn. The man/walrus known as Big Fat Sam has been in terrible form since his claim that he should be in charge at a European giant and it serves the silly fat twat right. It's been said before, but his teams are set up to harass and bully their way to victories, and that's fine, but don't get results and the fans will turn on you quick. The pressure is on here make no mistake. Considering Blackburns current home malaise I think backing Wigan with the comfort blanket of the Draw No Bet market is appealing. Boylesports are 3.5 and I'm happy to take a poke at that.

Having started off dreadfully and given themselves a considerable handicap to claw back, they are now 5 matches unbeaten. Blackpool have saved their best performances for away from Bloomfield Road so I think it's an away win in this one. Everton's price is coming in all the time, but 1.85 is still available on Betfair if you get in quick!

Both these teams are the less than proud owners of strikers who couldn't hit that Trayc off X Factors arse with a double bass. In Fulham's defence their strikers are injured and Clint Dempsey is doing a creditable job in their absence. Villa pay Emile Heskey, so they have no excuses. It'll be the inventively named 'Big' John Carew up front for Villa as Heskey is injured, but he hasn't scored since May. I think this makes Fulham the pick in what should be a tight contest. Odds of 2.3 are widely available.

Wolves have shown on numerous occasions that their best XI can hold out for decent amounts of time if necessary and they should put out a full-strength team for this one. Saying this though, United have rested current terrace darling Javier Hernandez for this match. For the life of me I acn't understand why he has his nickname on the backm of his shirt, but I'll have to accept that modern football is full of these annoying little commercial nonsensities. Anyway, I fancy the man known as 'Little Pea' to give the less than mobile Wolves centre backs a few problems this weekend. Skybet go 5.0 on him to score 2 or more and I'll have a half stakes go at that in this one.
Sunderland v Stoke, Saturday 1500
Having called the Tyne-Tees completely wrong last week I'll try and make amends for this match. Sunderland have a very decent home record so far, it's away from home they've struggled. A ful Satdium Of Light is a noisy place and can give them a little bit extra when they get right behind them. No. It. Can't. Mindless journalism you see too often that. Players at this level should not be intimidated by the myth of 'atmosphere'. It's always the players that decide matches not the fans, much as some would like to believe otherwise. Sunderland's players are far better than Stoke's, they can play football for a start. This should be enough to extend Stoke's miserable winless run. I think qoutes of 2.15 are very good for a home win, snap it up!
Arsenal v Newcastle, Sunday 1330
Newcatsle will travel to The Emirates chock-full of confidence coming off the back of last Sunday's 5-1 derby win. Arsenal should be smarting from a 2-1 defeat in the Ukraine, although with them having as good as qualified it matters little. I think complacency and Newcastles dodgy form could see Arsenal take out their frustrations on Chris Hughton's men. Cesc will be back for the Gunners, as well as a host of other first choice players rested in midweek. This all makes me think it's going to be one of those absolute hidings Arsenal are very capable of dishing out. Paddy Power go 2.1 with Arsenal on a -1.75 asian handicap and I'll take them on.
West Brom v Man City, Sunday 1500
If City lose this match we could well see Roberto Mancini's impeccably maintained fashion sense heading back to Italy. They have now lost 3 games on the spin after defeat in Poland last night and the media look likely to claim another dastardly foreigner who isn't the amazing Mourinho. The absolute shits. Mancini is a very capble manager in my book who built a team Mourinho only tweaked to turn them into last season's all conquering outfit. Every time anyone at City has stepped out of line the media have made out that he is a fool who can't control his players. All of this is irrelevant if he can't get wins, and in the absence of Tevez, they simply don't perform. West Brom lost to Blackpool on Monday, but were close to drawing with 9 men and that shouldn't be overlooked. They are better than Lech Poznan and are very capable of denying Man City 3 points. They are 2.75 on the home win in the Draw No Bet market at Totesport and that's fine for me.
Liverpool v Chelsea, Sunday 1600
the weekend's action is completed by Chelsea's visit to Anfield on Sunday afternoon. These 2 teams have a bit of needle going back to the Mourinho and Benitez spats and are normally feisty encounters. Chelsea's one weak spot this season has been their away form, with them losing to Man City and drawing with Villa away from Stamford Bridge. However, both of those are good teams, Pool aren't, they're toilet. Stevie Me's hat-trick disguised yet another insipid performance last night, and they can't rely on him to perform like that every match to drag them to wins. Fernando Torres is playing like a transvestite who would rather be anywhere other then Liverpool, understandably some would say. Didier Drogba looked imperious in Chelsea's 4-1 win over Spartak on Tuesday night and I fancy him to teach Pool's defnce a lesson. I can only see a Chelsea win and Betfred go 2.1 on precisiely that outcome.

This midweek the action is from...
Good morning all, sorry if this blog is too late and you get your bets on a few days before the event. I had a bit of a hangover yesterday and for lack of a better phrase 'I could not be arsed' to do my blog. How very unprofessional. Anyway, this midweek we are back to Europe's 2 major club competitions, the Champions League and the Europa League. Personally I'm not really a backer in the Europa League as it is very hard to know what teams are going to do in it. I'll tend to wait until the afternoon and some team news before I have a punt. I'll try and find a couple from the Mickey Mouse Cup of Europe for you though.
Champions League
FC Copenhagen v Barcelona, Tuesday 1945
Barcelona had seemed to be going through something of a tough start to the season with the inevitable fatigue kicking in to their relatively small squad post-World Cup. The injury to Leo Messi also deprived them of the best player in the game and that will hurt any team. All this bullshit about relying on 1 player being a negative, well it's served them pretty well hasn't it? Of course they don't have a player to come in and replace him, he's the best. Well, they seem to have hit their stride now. Messi has scored in their last 3 games and David Villa seems to have gotten over his woodwork hitting curse and the whole team again look irresistable. I can't get that excited about match prices of around 1.6 when they're away. I'm more excited about Stan James quotes of 2.1 on the Barcelona/Barcelona in the HT/FT market. Messi likes an early goal and I think that is the bet for me.
Valencia v Rangers, Tuesday 1945
Now then, I refuse to go back on my previous assertion that Scottish football is about as attractive as that Kat Slater on Enders sans make-up. It's a horrible style and quality of football north of the border and it's little wonder they're all on the Tennents having to put up with it. Saying that, Rangers know how to limit the opposition, as seen at Old Trafford on Matchday 1. They will no doubt go to the Mestalla with the same limited ambitions. I can see Valencia getting the better of them, but I can't see a hiding. I think quotes of around 2.0 generally on this being under 2.5 goals is a great bet.

Chelsea v Spatak Moscow, Wednesday 1945
I was very impressed with the Chelsea performance away in Russia 2 weeks ago in a 2-0 win. Not many teams go to the East and dominate like Chelsea did, especially on Spartak's platic pitch. With this in mind I can only see Chelsea at least repeating the trick tomorrow night. Didier Drogba is the best striker in football today for me, and Anelka is also on a hot streak. Kalou, whilst utter dogshit, also has a knack of coming off the bench and scoring against tiring legs. All this points to a comfortable Chelsea win for me. Back then at 2.4 with Paddy Power with a -2.0 asian handicap, the worst I think will happen is you get a refund.
Basel v Roma, Wednesday 1945
In this fixture 2 weeks ago at the Stadio Olimpico Basel pulled off something of a shock victory. However comma anyone following Ranieri's mens results and performances this season would have seen they were there for the beating. They can't score and don't see, particularly secure at the back, a dangerous combination I'm sure you'll agree? Basel have got to be backed to win the home tie for me as they are decent at home and looked more than a match for the Roman's to me. Odds of 2.75 are widely available for a home win and I'll take that.

Lech Poznan v Man City, Thursday 1800
The English press are currently having a field day making up stories about how near Mancini is to the chop at City. I think they may generate enough of a shitstorm to get their wish and have the 'dastardly' foreigner out of ENgland soon too. They seem to be piling the pressure on for him and City are far too reliant on Tevez at present for goals. Balotelli looks an exciting player to me, but will need some time after injury to find his form again. Lech may not be a team that I know a great deal about, but they haven't been outclassed by either Juventus or City in away games so far. I'm a bit fearful of a slight City backlash, and they are generally pretty resolute at the back so I'm going to give the Pole's an extra goal on the match handicap to help them on their way. Bet365 are the best price at 2.2 on that.
Getafe v Stuttgart, Thursday 2005
Getafe aren't exactly world beaters, but they should have enough to overcome a poor Stuttgart team. They are having an awful start to the season, as is their want, and are currently still managerless. Getafe are sitting midtable in La Liga and are a pretty solid outfit. If you're desperate to have a play on Thursday then this one looks the best bet of the night for me in terms of value. William Hill are standout at 2.0 and that's a small punt for me.

FC Copenhagen v Barcelona, Tuesday 1945
Barcelona had seemed to be going through something of a tough start to the season with the inevitable fatigue kicking in to their relatively small squad post-World Cup. The injury to Leo Messi also deprived them of the best player in the game and that will hurt any team. All this bullshit about relying on 1 player being a negative, well it's served them pretty well hasn't it? Of course they don't have a player to come in and replace him, he's the best. Well, they seem to have hit their stride now. Messi has scored in their last 3 games and David Villa seems to have gotten over his woodwork hitting curse and the whole team again look irresistable. I can't get that excited about match prices of around 1.6 when they're away. I'm more excited about Stan James quotes of 2.1 on the Barcelona/Barcelona in the HT/FT market. Messi likes an early goal and I think that is the bet for me.
Valencia v Rangers, Tuesday 1945
Now then, I refuse to go back on my previous assertion that Scottish football is about as attractive as that Kat Slater on Enders sans make-up. It's a horrible style and quality of football north of the border and it's little wonder they're all on the Tennents having to put up with it. Saying that, Rangers know how to limit the opposition, as seen at Old Trafford on Matchday 1. They will no doubt go to the Mestalla with the same limited ambitions. I can see Valencia getting the better of them, but I can't see a hiding. I think quotes of around 2.0 generally on this being under 2.5 goals is a great bet.
