Chelsea v Aston Villa, Sunday 1330
Villa are shit. No more, no less, utter smelly shit. Their football stinks, it's hoofball of the highest order. Unless Ashley Young is flying they completely lack flair. And Emile Heskey and that Delfoneuso lad up top are about as useful as a chocolate teapot. Chelsea have also looked poor recently, and victory over Bolton at home was their first win in 6. Carlo Ancelotti can't afford another run like that and expect to keep his job. Much as it's mostly the poor foresight of his predecessors he is suffering for, he'll pay the price for poor results. The youth team is the problem, they haven't produced a first team player since Tiny Tears, and he was nicked off West Ham at 15. They should gain some confidence from the Bolton result, and that is probably enough to beat Villa at the moment. Houllier might have been in charge for only half a season, but he too must be feeling the pressure. I think a morale boosting win is on the cards for Chelsea, I also think Drogba might well get a goal too. Corals 4.5 looks decent for first scorer so half stakes on that.
Wigan v Newcastle, Sunday 1600
My 2 teams to avoid betting wise. Wigan more so last season than this, they've generally lost this year. Newcastle have been scintillating one week and dross the next, making it hard to predict and therefore bet. I think there will probably be goals in this with both viewing it as winnable. Most firms go 2.1 on over 2.5 and that seems reasonable to me.

A gift from me to you...
Merry xmas one and all! I'm sat here in something of a food based coma, completely unable and unwilling to move. So I might as well take a look at some bets to spend my money on. Hopefully you've all had a good one and plenty of merriment has been had? My favourite bit of news was Rafa Benitez getting the boot having incomprehensibly turned Inter into utter shite in only 6 months. Simply incredible. The man has had some success, the Spanish title wins with a modestly assembled Valencia side stand out most for me. Much more so than the Champions League win, for all the glitz and glamour a league is harder to win. He does have a terrible beard too. My musical reccomendation this time is a bit of a shouter, I'm going for System Of A Down with Forest.
Fulham v West Ham, Boxing Day 1200
This will probably not be a classic. In fact I would be willing to stick my neck out and say it will be awful and one to avoid. West Ham are going down, and worse still, apart from Scott Parker they'll be doing it without much fight. Fulham too, are deep in trouble and without a recognised striker or creative midfielder they too are another side I think we'll be waving tata to come May. A loan move for someone like Stephen Ireland would be a great signing though, so if Mark Hughes uses the January window well they could even push for Europe again! All in though, I think this will be another match Fulham try not to lose before anything else. But, because of West Ham's continuing shitness I think they're very backable at 2.0 with Ldbrokes to sneak a win.
Blackburn v Stoke, Boxing Day 1500
This will again be pretty unlikely to set pulses racing. The newly unemployed fat swine still has his fingerprints on Rovers and it'll be difficult to change their style of play. The new man Steve Kean has been given until the end of the season to give the management a go. History tells us that assistant generally are assistants at his age for a reason. That reason is that they generally aren't good enough for the big boys job. Stoke are still the worst footballing side to ever 'grace' the Premier League. Utterly dreadful. Being a lower league football fan though it does tickle me to see this style of play succeeding against more impressive footballing teams. However comma Rovers are not much better. The Fat Twat has just missed out on the Inter job as I write, hopefully noone will give him a job and we'll never have to listen to his arrogance in spite of never winning anything and see him doing all he can to bum Sir Wrigley. I would not back Blackburn at the moment so I'll take Betfred's 2.37 on Stoke, but in Draw No Bet for security.
Blackpool v Liverpool, Boxing Day 1500
This will probably fall victim to the weather again as Blackpool's stadium really can't cope with the cold. It's a shame to as I think they might again cause Pool a shock. The stick I regularly hear Woy Hodgson given always includes the incredulous 'we even lost at home to Blackpool', and what a day it was! The commitment to giving it a go that the Tangerines have should be seen as the way all smaller teams aspire to. You might lose a few by a hefty amount, but I think it will gain you enough wins to be worth it in the long run. And, by christ, it's better than Birmingham or Blackburn. If this match goes ahead I think Liverpool are too short priced. They are generally garbage away from home so being odds on in this is a chance to oppose to good to miss. Odds of 5.0 are generally available on a home win and that's the one for me.
Bolton v West Brom, Boxing Day 1500
Bolton have been good to watch and good to back this season, West Brom have certainly entertained, but in fits and spurts. They definitely could win this one, but I am more inclined towards Owen Coyle's men. The change in style he has imposed and been successful is a stand out for his CV, and he hasn't even spent a great deal to do it. I would fully expect his name to start being spoken of for the big jobs before long. Roberto Di Matteo seems to be struggling to send his team out as motivated sometimes. He too is a young boss though, and has undoubtebly done well and made some good signings, Odemwingie a particular standout. As I've mentioned before, I really fancy a home win. The best price available is 2.1 with William Hill.
Everton v Birmingham, Boxing Day 1500
Everton have been unkind to me whilst tipping them this year. They have failed against the likes of West Brom at home and then they beat Man City away on Monday to spoil my weekend. The shits. Birmingham are really struggling like a few others at the moment and it seems a lack of pace and goals is the problem. Nikola Zigic has not been a success at all and looks utter gash at present. The other options are the distinctly average Cameron Jerome and the increasingly aged Kevin Phillips. They are another team that will view January as a big month to add the missing pieces and move away from the dropzone. I think they'll struggle to attract any big names to the club and unless they pull a Chrisophe Dugarry style masterstroke they will probably end up embroiled in the relegation battle. The fact that Everton should be still in a good mood from the win at eastlands and that Brum will still be a turgid side chockfull of dross makes me inclined towards a comfortable home win. Everton are 2.1 with Betdaq carrying a -1.0 asian handicap and that seems good enough to me.
Man Utd v Sunderland, Boxing Day 1500
This one is a poser for me. I like Sunderland a lot and they've been in great form of late. However, a key part of that recent run has been the very impressive performances of Danny Welbeck on loan from United. He therefore will not take any part in this and that will blunt the Mackems somewhat. I would expect to see him given a call up for England before long as he looks a promising player to me. United still haven't impressed me at all. But, the tossers continue to win and are still unbeaten. I don't think they'll last the season that way, as they're not good enough to avoid a beating, but they should win this. Quotes of around 1.25 don't excite me at all unless you have a serious wedge to put on it. Sunderland might have kept a clean sheet against Bolton, but they looked likely to concede a lot to me at some point. I think United could be the ones to give them a roasting if Nani and Rooney turn up so I'll handicap them. Victor Chandler go 2.02 on United with a -1,75 asian handicap, that's for me.
Newcastle v Man City, Boxing Day 1500
Another tough one to call this. The Geordies were impressive in besting Liverpool at home recently, with Andy Carroll looking very accomplished. The problem with Newcastle is that they're as likely to beat Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool, but lose to Wigan and it makes them exceptionally hard to predict. But, this being my line of work, I really ought to have a pop. I think City still looked good in their loss to Everton, just lacked a cutting edge. The odds seem to have moved in accordance with the teams respective last matches, and I think they've been pushed out too far. Mancini has drilled City into a generally tough to beat side, and Tevez, Silva and Balotelli are excellent when in form. I fancy them to put the last performance behind them and they should have too much for Newcastles rearguard if they do. Odds of 2-3 are available and I'll take some of that.
Wolves v Wigan, Boxing Day 1500
And so we move on to the team only being made to look vaguely competent by West Ham's incredible levels of poor. Wigan are a dradful side, lacking in all areas and watched by noone. They are a skid mark on the pants of the Premier league and I'll be glad to see the back of them at the end of the season, and I wouldn't expect them back anytime soon. How Roberto Martinez has kept his job is beyond me, he's failed to impose a style of play or bought in anyone of note and he'll take them down this year. Wolves have been performing pretty well without getting results until recently. Now they're getting some more reward for their endeavour and they should get another 3 points here purely because they'll put the effort in. Paddy Power go 2.15 and that looks cracking to me.
Aston Villa v Tottenham, Boxing Day 1730
The late match comes from Villa Park and sees the ever entertaining Spuds travel to hoofball merchants Aston Villa. Ged Houllier seems to be stuck in the same decade old timewarp as Martin O'Neill was. They were very successful back then, but both seem blind to the moves in formations and seem inadequate to manage now. If Ashley Young leaves Villa then I really think they will struggle, and might be backable for relegation next season if such a thing happens. This current malaise they are in would make Spurs a betting prospect for me. When they're firing they are very impressive and in Luka Modric they have a midfield general playing as well as anyone, in my opinion. The little Croatian seems to be moving towards the Andrea Pirlo deep lying playmaker rolenow and doing very well too. I think an attacking approach could reap reward for Sloppy Face in this. They are currently 2.4 on Betfair, but I would expect that price to be shorter by kick off.
Arsenal v Chelsea, Monday 2000
Another top of the table Monday night clash. Chelsea role up to Arsenal looking for 3 pretty much guaranteed points judging by past performances. In the last 18 matches against Man Utd and Chelsea Arsene Wenger's men have lost 14. A horrendous record and one Wenger has to take a lot of blame for for not learning anything from their performances. They never take into account the opposition's strengths and seem shocked to be beaten the same way every time. Drogba has scored 13 in 13 against the Gunners and he'll be licking his chops for this no doubt. I would love to see Arsenal win this and I still think they might win the league because of United and Chelsea's lack of good performances. You've got to follow form and bet on Chelsea again turning them over. Coral are still 2.87 on the away win and I'd snap that price up because it will not last!
Fulham v West Ham, Boxing Day 1200
This will probably not be a classic. In fact I would be willing to stick my neck out and say it will be awful and one to avoid. West Ham are going down, and worse still, apart from Scott Parker they'll be doing it without much fight. Tis the season for giving...
And by christ Blackburn's new owners have delivered for both their fans and Fat Sam haters like myself. The fat twat. Presumably with Rafa now struggling at Inter Milan with his typical alienation of every player possible, he'll be brushing up his Italian in expectation of a job offer more becoming of his skills? His skills being impersonating a lamb shank and bending over whenever Sir Wrigley asks. The awful fat man. Talking of Sir Wrigley, I had the mispleasure of watching the turgid affair put on by his team and Arsenal on Monday night. Forgive me, but I thought we could have a cracker with L'Arse in imperious away form and United just generally not impressing. I should have known. For all Wenger's accomplishments and skills, learning from past mistakes isn't one of them. I could have told you United would pack the midfield and that leaving Clichy isolated because of Arshavin's legendary lack of back-tracking was a recipe for disaster. And yet, he saw fit to change nowt. I've always been an admirer of Wenger's and the way he tries to play football whilst not bankrupting the club (looking at you Sloppy Chops), but he needs to change something. An assistant that will challenge his decisions might be a start? Anyway this week's musical recommendation is a xmas themed belter, The Ramones with Merry Christmas (I Don't Want To Fight Tonight), cracking.
Sunderland v Bolton, Saturday 1245
We're back to the Saturday early kick-offs this week and, oh me oh my, Sky have lined up a belter. And I sort of mean that! I have thoroughly enjoyed Bolton's meteoric rise under Owen Coyle and when Sunderland are firing they too are a sight to behold. The big issue for Sunderland has been that in the absence of Titus Bramble and Michael Turner they look about as easy to penetrate as that Jodie Marsh. However comma they are, once again, missing so Bolton's chances of at least scoring will increase in my mind. Bolton haven't had any problems hitting the net this season and generally neither have the Mackems so I'm hoping for some goals to kick the weekend off with a BANG! I'm going for over 2.5 goals at a widely available 2.0.
Arsenal v Stoke, Saturday 1500
As I've already mentioned, Arsenal were absolute toilet, gash, rubbish on Monday evening and that will be enough for most people to consider opposing them this weekend. Throw in Stoke's undoubted physical presence and The Gunners less than stellar home form, and you can see why it's hard to fancy them. This being said, they haven't actually had many problems with beating Stoke in the past. This could be because Stoke are crap at actually playing football, maybe? Anyway, Arsenal looked impotent on Monday and I think they'll happily leave this game with a 1 or 2 nil victory. I think this slow start might lead to a Draw HT/Arse FT result, and that's available at 4.5 with Laddies.
Birmingham v Newcastle, Saturday 1500
I have just been informed that of their last 27 matches, Brum have won only 4! Now, this is relegation form and it's no suprise to see them falling like a stone at present. They're tight at the back, but when your strikers are of the calibre of Cameron Jerome and Nikola Zigic, it's easy to see where the problems lie. Newcastle made my weekend last time out as i had them at 3.75 to beat Liverpool at home, and they went right ahead and tore them a new one. The return of Joey Barton seemed to galvanise them, and he deservedly got man of the match. He is a truly hateful little thug though, so I'll add the caveat that he is a c word of the highest order. With him and Andy Carroll both looking in great nick at the moment, you can't back an under-performing Brum side. I fancy Alan Pardew to make it 2 wins from 2 and start some pressure on Big Eck. Odds of 3.2 are still available at Victor Chandler and that seems generous enough for me.
Blackburn v West Ham, Saturday 1500
With the Fat One having vacated the Rovers hotseat, Steve Kean steps into the breach for this match against a still horrendous West Ham side. I saw my season ticket holding Irons friend on Saturday after watching them succumb to a Man City side and he informed me they were 'dogshit'. No fight, no bottle apparently. And it would seem the odds compilers are in broad agreement with Rovers well under even money for the home win. I doubt very much whether Blackburn will come out with a new swashbuckling style this weekend, but they should be more than comfortable for a win against a Hammers side that are, if possible, worse on their travels. I'm that confident in light of my pals assessment of West Ham that I'll handicap Rovers for a bit of extra value. I'll take Victor Chandler's 2.34 on the asian -1.0 hcap.
Wigan v Aston Villa, Saturday 1500
This week's leading contender for 2 minute highlight package is Wigan at home to a disappointing Villa side. Ged has failed to get much out of his troops at Villa and has managed to upset 'Big' John Carew in the process. Wigan are just dross, no more needs saying, they'll be in the Championship next year. Hopefully never to darken my door again. I can't really be bothered to assess strenths, as neither team currently have any. God only knows which way this will go. I'm thinking it wont have much in it though and Satn James quotes of 3.2 on under 1.5 goals tickles my fancy.
Liverpool v Fulham, Saturday 1730
Roy Hodgson welcomes his old side to Anfield on Saturday on the back of another disappointing performance in Europe. I'd like to take this opportunity to say Joe Cole was dreadful, absolutely hopeless. Like many, I can remember him as a 17 year old bag of tricks, who looked likely to be a fantastic flair player. Injuries and Jose Mourinho assured he would not become this player. Stuck out on the left by both Chelsea and England for most of his career, he's become a nothing player. No position to call his own, no discernable flair left, and he never could shoot. Anyone still mentioning his 'potential' should be shot, he's nearer retirement than his teens, give it up. Enough of that. He wont play and Liverpool will win. Fulham can't buy a win at home or away, and Anfield has been becoming something of a fortress again for Pool. Home win prices of around 1.55 don't excite me so I'll take a chance on Pool doing it early and striding home. Liverpool/Liverpool at 2.37 with Stan James in the HT/FT is the one for me.
West Brom v Wolves, Sunday 1200
Another weekend, another Midlands derby! This one sees a Wolves side who are finally getting the results their effort has deserved against an up and down WBA. Both should stay up comfortably for me, West Ham, Wigan and Fulham are all far worse. I don't know why, but I fancy a cracker in this!? West Brom are always capable of goals, and I fancy Wolves to give this a bloody good go too. Professional Yorkshireman Mick McCarthy wont ever send a team out to all-out-attack, but I think he will fancy something from this, especially with the added feel-good factor a derby performance. Bet365 go 2.42 on over 3 goals and I think the worst that'll happen is you get your money back on that.
Blackpool v Tottenham, Sunday 1330
Well, once again Droop Jowls has been embarrassing himself by talking Spurs up as title challengers. What a prat. They're 7 points off Man Utd and if you think they're making that up you're fucking mental. They are yet to win outside of London this season and they'll drop yet more points still. They'll do well to finish Top 4 in my opinion. Blackpool are everyone's 2nd favourite team this season, what with their 'mad' manager Ian Holloway and tactics of forward first football. I think getting aginst the Spuds here is a brilliant bet. Their defenders are still shaky and the strikers need a hatful of chances before they put one away, particularly Jermaine Defoe. Yes he gets goals, but the team would get more if he's lay it off or show some composure on occasion. Coral go 2.25 on the Draw and Blackpool in the Double Chance market and I think that's sensational stuff!
Chelsea v Man Utd, Sunday 1600
United go from beating Arsenal at home to a trip to Stamford Bridge to play a faltering Chelsea side. I have previously mentioned my belief that old age and a serious lack of squad depth would catch up with Chavski, and it looks like that is coming true now. It's just a shame for Chelsea that all their attacking players seem to be creaking at the same time. Whilst United beat Arsenal on Monday, they again failed to impress. Darren Fletcher looked terrible to me, and by christ Michael Carrick is never worth £18mil, what the fuck does he do. Can't tackle, can't shoot and fails with simple passes when under anything resembling pressure. This should make Chelsea more confident of getting a win and being straight back in the title race. I wouldn't like to call this one though, except to say I see it being cagey. Neither will want to give 3 points to the opposition so it's unlikely we'll see an open game. I think the half time draw at a widely available 2.1 is as good a bet as any for this.
Man City v Everton, Monday 2000
The Monday night fixture comes from Eastland's with a struggling Everton the visitors. David Moyes has done a fantastic job with The Toffee's, but he must be wondering if he has taken them as far as he can. If he wanted to leave the club, then I for one wouldn't blame him. This match could well see Carlos Tevez starting having handed in a transfer request at the end of last week. I actually think he comes across ok as a person, he just seems very badly advised and not clever enough to see it. His agent Kia Joorachabian is obviously in it for himself, and the percentage if all his signing on fees seems to be his sole motivation when advising his client. He seems a right shit in short. All this being said, when you look at the way both teams are playing this is only going one way. What hasn't been widely said is that David Silva and Vincent Kompany have arguably been just as important for City this season and they're both happy. I'm handicapping City as I'm sure they've got enough and Everton have no firepower. Victor Chandler go 2.29 on a City win with a -1.0 asian hcap and I'm all over that like I will be my Dad's sausage rolls next week!

Better late than never...
Many apologies for the lateness of this effort. Went on a work night out on Thursday and the involvement of Sambuca made me less than useless yesterday I'm afraid. Once again I have had a good week punting on the 'Champions' League. I went in fairly hard on Madrid -1.0 and was rewarded handsomely for my efforts. Much as Mourinho is a brash, greasy, self-important twat, he does love to win a football match! Whilst other managers are happy to settle for a less than stellar performance when top spot is assured, that wont do for the Special One. It's almost warming me to him in fact. This weeks music is a bit of a modern punk ballad, it's Roadside by my favourite band Rise Against.
Aston Villa v West Brom, Saturday 1500
First up is the first of 2 Midlands derbies this weekend. Di Matteo is bringing his seemingly back on form WBA to Villa Park to take on Ged Houllier's abject lot. It is no exaggeration to say that the man that brought the mickey mouse treble to Anfield has yet to make a good impression at Villa and his comments about how much he loved Pool and everything about it will not have gone down well on the back of a 3-0 victory that could have been 6. All in all, Villa are currently dogshit. Because of the nature of derbies, and because I'm not fully convinced about WBA still, it's going to be a Draw No Bet for me. I'll take Stan James quotes of 2.62 on WBA in that market.
Everton v Wigan, Saturday 1500
Having previously stated West Ham were the worst team in the Premier League I might already be forced to retract that statement in light of how poor Wigan are. It does not pain me at all to say this as I've long thought they have no place in the top division. I hate Dave Whelan, the man's a fucking slag when it comes to being in the media spotlight, can't get enough of it. I also resent the fact they can't muster more than about 12000 fans to come and cheer them on, they're dull and shit so I can't blame them entirely, but even when the weren't the attendances were piss poor. Everton are again on a crap run too and are looking increasingly likely to get dragged into a relegation scrap if they don't turn things round. A glance at their line-up says they should, but they need a striker to step up and score. Jermaine Beckford has proved as poor a signing as my Leeds supporting mates predicted, he makes Jermaine Defoe look clinical. With both teams struggling for goals and creativity, I'm plumping for an under 2.5 goals poke at a widely available 2.0.
Fulham v Sunderland, Saturday 1500
Mark Hughes must already be feeling some pressure at Craven Cottage. They were a team slipping in the league last term masked by their great European run and he has done nothing to arrest the slide. Being deprived of his 2 main strikers hasn't helped, but he's a hateful, sour prick so I'm short on sympathy. Steve Bruce on the other hand looks to have finally got his team playing like one that was assembled at the large cost his has been. Lee Cattermole has been impressive now he's decided gobbing off at the ref isn't helpful and Danny Welbeck has been hugely impressive of late too. The losses of Michael Turner and Titus Bramble have hurt them at the back as they had struck up a strangely impressive partnership. There's always a chance Fulham will battle out for a draw, as they have done so many times already so I'm going to go for that as I think both teams would settle for it before kick-off. Best price is 3.3 at Betfair.
Stoke City v Blackpool, Saturday 1500
This would have been a huge match in the late 30's! Both these teams are now back in the top flight and look set to have another season at least, due to them being not as shit as some of the dross like Wigan hanging around the bottom. They go about their tasks very differently, Stoke are all raw power and long throws whereas Blackpool are an attacking lot who try and play football. Charlie Adam has been a hugely impressive performer for The Seasider's and is the sort of player Tony Pulis has bought and then failed to integrate into the team. I look at these failures to change they style and I think sooner rather than later he'll be removed for a manager with some track record of playing football. I think power will come out on top in a cracking game in this one. I also feel it's a match Ricardo Fuller may get one in, although lord knows why! He's available at 3.5 with Betfair to find the old onion bag anytime.
West Ham v Man City, Saturday 1500
This is the sort of match Mancini will need to win if City are to be serious challengers this year. If they do manage it today they'll be above neighbours Utd, albeit having played 2 more games. I think they're a club on the up who will pass Utd on their way down if current squads continue along current trends. West Ham have looked better of late, and 'Super' Scotty Parker has been at the fulcrum of everything good that happens. I think he'll be over-run by City's man-beasts in the middle though and that should decide it. Stan James take the biggest stand on the away win at 2.0 and I'll be on that.
Newcastle v Liverpool, Saturday 1730
Well, well, well...The circus is back in Toon. I'm not an idiot, so I can see Chris Hughton will not be guiding Newcastle to the upper reaches of the Prem, but sacking him at this time seems mental. The only reason I can see for it is that Ashley plans on cashing in on players in January and Pardew has promised to not put up a fight. All this points to the possibility of a return to The Championship for me if true. The man's clearly a prat. Pardew has had a moderate managerial career so far, with the FA Cup final he took West Ham too the highlight. He talks a decent enough game, but it all seems like bluster to me. Liverpool have been out of the headlines for a couple of weeks now as Roy Hodgson has been getting results. I think Andy Carroll will be looking forward to this one though, Jamie Ehr Carragher would have been up for the battle, but I'm not sure the other centre backs are. I fancy a Newcastle win followed by a long hard slog to the end of the season. A best priced 3.75 is available on the Geordie win.
Bolton v Blackburn, Sunday 1330
The Fat One returns to Bolton to see a man doing so much better than he ever did. Owen Coyle has taken the physicality and defensive attributes already ingrained and allied a previously unseen flair to the Trotters. He has even managed to make Johan Elmander look like a half decent player, and that's no small task. He's going to Liverpool at the season's end I think, where he will likely return to the shite from more representative of his career as a whole. Fabio Capello has this week installed The Fat Man and Sloppy Chops as his most likely successors and I can't argue. The FA have, as usual, made a balls up in stating the next man must be English, and left themselves the choice between these 2 evils. One with no tactical awareness and one whose only tactic is fouling and kicking it long. No less than they deserve anyway. I see Owen Coyle's more attractive lot beating a Blackburn team who don't travel well anyway. I'm going to stick my neck out on this somewhat, and I think Bolton do this comfortably. Match prices of 2.1 are fine, but I'm taking them with a -1.0 asian handicap at 6.4 with Bet365.
Wolves v Birmingham, Sunday 1500
The second of the Midlands derbies and this one ought to be slightly more exciting. Wolves are in a pretty shitty streak at present and will be looking to this match for 3 points and the morale boost of a derby win. Birmingham have been in cracking form though and have held both Chelsea and Spurs to draws lately. Their new striker Nicola Zigic might well be utter toilet, but his height means that knock downs are a plenty. Wolves problems stem from being unable to keep them out in and unable to put them in. A pretty worrying time to be a Wolves fan I'd imagine and professional Yorkshireman Mick McCarthy has threatened to get dirty to set things right. Neither team are prolific, but I've got a feeling their may be goals in this. Quotes of 2.2 at Victor Chandler on over 2.5 goals have me hooked.
Tottenham v Chelsea, Sunday 1600
There can be no better time for Tottenham and their magical manager to take on the Champions. Chelsea are on a horrendous run and their big players seem unable, or unwilling, to perform and pull them out of it. This being said, Sloppy Chops legendary lack of tactics or defensive organisation means they'll get chances, everyone does! The Spuds will be riding high on topping their Champions League group and the plaudits that have come with it. I stated at the start of the season that injuries would be key for Chelsea this season, as the back-up at the club is by far the worst in the top 5 and the starters are getting on in years. It might be just a bad patch, but I think we're witnessing the start of the fall of Chavski. This all points to a Totteringham victory for me and the lauding of Redknapp again for a less impressive victory than Sunderland or Birmingham have achieved. 2.87 is widely available still and it's good enough for me.
Man Utd v Arsenal, Monday 2000
Monday night sees Man Utd's first test in a while with Arsenal travelling to the Theatre of Dreams, what a poncey name. Both teams have looked dodgy at the back at points, mostly when Jonny Evans or Laurent Kocielsny have featured. Arsenal's away form has been the best in the league so far and is the reason I think they're the best bet for the title. United have been grinding victories out undeservedly and they're going to get punished soon. In the absence of Cesc Fabregas Samir Nasri has raised his game to become the main man for Arsenal. I think both he and Andrey Arshavin will love a game of this magnitude and I think that might just swing it. United don't pose a physical threat, and that is still the best way to cause Arsenal problems. I fancy Arsenal in this and the papaers to then declare them champions and Weneger a genius, before tearing him down when they go out of the Champions League. Victor Chandler go 4.2 on a famous away win and that's my betting done.
Aston Villa v West Brom, Saturday 1500
First up is the first of 2 Midlands derbies this weekend. Di Matteo is bringing his seemingly back on form WBA to Villa Park to take on Ged Houllier's abject lot. It matters more when there's money on it...
Has there ever been a truer advertising slogan than this effort from those absolute gits at Sky? Whilst I hate the company with a pretty unrivalled passion, I have to give credit to whichever massively tie knotted man-boy came up with this gem! I had a rare punt on the Carling Cup this week on Arsenal to win both halves against Wigan at a shade under 2.5 and it's almost making me forget the fact I'm pretty full of cold.I'm going to divulge an extra tip for all of you followers this week...Arsenal will win the Premier League this year. Odds of 5.5 are around if you look hard enough and I think it's great value, Chelsea's back-up is monumentally gash, and don't be fooled by United's win last week. Not every manager is as eager to take Ferguson in his mouth as Big Fat Sam and they'll drop points yet. My musical recommendation this week is Division of Laura Lee - Trapped In, a wonderful tune!
Arsenal v Fulham, Saturday 1500
With no early kick-off this week it's straight on to the 3 o'clock matches, and first up is The Gooners. Having just tipped them for the league I can't see anything except a resounding victory against Sparky Hughes utter shower. The 4-1 drubbing they took at home to Man City the other week has been a long time coming, and Arsenal are better in attack than the Blue Mooners. I have absolutely no sympathy for Hughes sacking at City, he spent fortunes on defenders and, to a man, they're dogshit. I never liked his Blackburn side either, a dirtier bunch of gits you'd be hard pushed to find. He's had some previous with Arsenal too so hopefully Wenger can motivate his boys by reminding them of this before sending them out. I'm confident they win this at a canter so I'm looking to the handicap market.Paddy Power go 2.1 on Arsenal with a -1.75 asian hcap and I'll smash into that.
Birmingham v Tottenham, Saturday 1500
We now have the match involving Arsenal's less illustrious neighbours Tottingham. Their lack of any tactics makes them entertaining to watch, but can make it very hard to bet on their matches! Normally you're guaranteed goals, but Brum are possibly the most obdurate outfit in the league. In English, they're good at the back! With Van De Vaart also missing for Tottenham after he pulled a muscle kicking a ball (the gay), they might just struggle to break Brum down. Expect punts in the direction of Crouch after 60 minutes if they are not ahead. Because Sloppy Chops men are involved I'm reluctant to back unders, as he could easily 'pull a masterstroke' and attack at some point! Shock, horror! The man's a droopy faced genius the papers will cry, he attacks when his team aren't winning! What I will say is in the absence of Kaboul Spurs are not the tallest in defence. Nicola Zigic is a terrible footballer, but I fancy his ridiculously long body to cause problems. Back him to score with 3.75 available with a number of bookies.
Blackburn v Wolves, Saturday 1500
Wolves hurt me with a last minute winner last week so for once I wont be absolutely vehement in my hatred of the Fat One at Rovers. Who am I kidding? The Fat Twat bent over and took everything Ferguson had last week in a match I'd like to see investigated for him not fielding a proper team and even having the cheek to put non-footballer Chimbonda in the side. What a bastard. Wolves have provoked my betting ire, but I do like professional Yorkshireman Mick McCarthy. He's a man who takes no shit and never uses any more words than are strictly necessary. I fancy a bore draw in this, with the temperatures up north probably not helping. Victor Chandler go 3.75 on that outcome and I'll have a bit on that.
Chelsea v Everton, Saturday 1500
I think Chelsea will come good again soon, but I think prices of between 1.3 and 1.4 on Chelsea are too short on current form. They've looked anything but impressive in the absence of a central midfielder that can play a bit of football. John Obi Mikel, jesus wept the man's shit. Pure un-adulterated shit. Everton aren't impressing either having contrived to lose to an off-form WBA last weekend. This is making punting pretty difficult and I wouldn't recommend putting the xmas presents on this! I think both teams will be happier to keep it tight early on and this might lead to a less than entertaining low scorer. Prices of 2.1 are available on under 2.5 goals with a variety of bookies, I'd get on that if anything.
Manchester City v Bolton, Saturday 1500
Having piled the pressure on Bobby Mancini the press must be seething that City are now playing some attractive stuff and scoring goals. Every good team is built on strong foundations, and that's where he started at City. With Kolarov and Balotelli now available you a see some more attacking intent, matched with their formidable backline. Bolton have made me a happy gambler this year with them often winning at odds against and I've been happily backing them most of the season. That will change here. They looked slightly off-colour last match and City are looking super-duper at present. I think they could rattle up another decent score and I'll be handicapping them. I'll take City -1.0 on the asian hcap with 2.0 widely available.
Wigan v Stoke, Saturday 1500
Heavens above this could be a poor game! Wigan are absolute toilet, unable to score and shit at the back. Definitely a combination that will take them down this year. Stoke are just a dreadful side to watch at this level. There's something fun about watching balls launched into the box from all angles, but I wouldn't pay Premier League prices to watch it. I think these smash and grab tactics can do the travelling fans proud. I'm not writing any more though as these 2 don't deserve it. Stoke at 2.8 with Laddies, that's all you're getting.
Blackpool v Man Utd, Saturday 1730
The late kick-off sees the Seasider's taking on the might of United at Bloomfield Road. Because the place is such a dump there is already talk the match will be postponed, but I'll tell you what I think. I think United had that 4-0 beating midweek coming. I've never had a problem with them as they've been good to watch and I'll forgive their prat of a manager and some horrible players because of that. There will not be a repeat of last weeks scoreline as I'm pretty sure Holloway isn't as keen to bear Sir Wrigley's children as the Lamb Shank lookalike. I'm struggling for a bet though! The man with a penchant for dog for dinner came up trumps for me last week and he'll be likely to play again I'd imagine. Stan James go 4.0 on that outcome and that seems very reasonable.
West Brom v Newcastle, Sunday 1330
The lunchtime match comes form The Hawthorns on Sunday with the unpredictable Geordie's the visitors. Having been subjected to one of those Newcastle fans who seriously believes they're a 'massive' club I'd rapidly gone off them. The unassuming style of Chris Hughton and nutty centre half Colloccini have brought me back onside though. However comma this should never really affect my betting. West Brom came up with an away win at Everton last weekend to end a shit streak they'd been on of late.
Di Matteo should hopefully be telling them that a repeat of that performance will be enough, and it might well be. But, I very rarely bet on match prices with Newcastle and I wont be here. I fancy a cracking end to end game resplendent with goals here. Get on over 2.5 of the sods at 1.91 with Billy Hill's.
Sunderland v West Ham, Sunday 1600
The Mackems will fancy beating a piss-poor Hammers outfit on Sunday, even after their resounding win over Utd in the Shit Beer Cup. It should be remembered that Utd had Jonny Evans playing, and he is shit. If he's a future United centre back then I'm a fish!? Well, unless United are settling for mid-table in the future. Talking of Utd reserves, the lad Welbeck has been in excellent form for Sunderland lately. His goalscoring exploits have even overshadowed Bent and Gyan. No mean feat. The Hammers look a different side when 'Scotty' Parker plays, but he's carrying a knock and is struggling apparently. This all points to a Sunderland victory for me, especially factoring the cold north and the Hammers foreign mercenaries. Laddies still go 1.9 so snap it up whilst it lasts!
Liverpool v Aston Villa, Monday 2000
It's the return of Ged Houllier to Anfield on Monday night with his functional Villa side. Pool drew in Bucharest last night, but had a team of ne'erdowells out and we can't read much into that. Torres is your man at Anfield and he alone should be enough to trouble a suprisingly creaky Dunne and Collins of Villa. They were amongst the most reliable pairings in the league last year, but have been pretty leaky of late. Raul Meireiles is also showing some of his World Cup form in the absence of Stevie Me and that's good news for Pool fans since he's been crocked more often in recent season's. I'd back Torres first goal, but I only do that infrequently. I'd rather have the security of anytime scorer at 2.1 with Stan James.
